For over twenty years, Doug worked in the entertainment world as a writer, director, producer, editor, actor, assistant director, even truck driver.  He directed  award winning plays, and has numerous shorts, ads, music videos, and even a feature film to his name. Seeking a different personal reward, Doug earned his Master's degree in psychology from Philip's Graduate Institute. He believes that most clients don’t need “fixing,” as much as they need encouragement and help un-doing damaging self-beliefs and building their sense of self so that they can live to pursue not just the goals society hands them, but goals of their own.  Doug's experience includes work as a school-based counselor, work with college students, work with more seriously affected people in a Department of Mental Health program and child and family therapy in private practice.

Doug has combined his love of theater and his love for psychology in the form of Drama Therapy--a form of counseling which believes that we can learn about aspects of our personalities and personal histories by acting them out.  With both children and adults, Doug uses this approach to help people use dramatic play to explore and express their emotional world.  He has been in training with Robin Walker since September, 2007.
